Been Reading all I can about a new TAR RIVER SANYA507 NoTill Drill. They seem like pretty good equipment for under $6000. Weighs 1400# and you can add weights to it to get somewhat better penetration.....tho my sandy soils are fairly easy to penetrate. I'd have "just enough" tractor HP and ample size / lift to handle this 6 foot wide drill. This may be the right drill for me - given my soils. Seems like most folks are happy with it.....but it's only been on the market for a bit over a year. Got a call on one in Rockford ILL. Wonder what shipping would cost? I like the no till concept and getting rid of all the chemicals and tillage over time. Hmmmm.....the plot thickens. Good discussion on this unit on Habitat talk. .https://habitat-talk.com/index.php?threads/tar-river-saya-507-not-till-drill.12176/ EDIT: I even bought a few bags of barley yesterday. Grin. Will for sure still need chemicals Flail mow / no till plant / suppress new weeds by eliminating tillage and allopathic plants/ Some weed control by chems / Flail Mow / no till plant / repeat ad nauseam. - Ask SD

Tractor? No wonder you quit "farming". You got too many of Art's idea's on the way it should be. Grin.

Back in 78 I wanted to go cash cropping and beef. He said if milk cows weren't included it wasn't going to be mine. I said goodbye.

^ Tempting......but too hard to turn those around on my place. I need a six foot wide, three-point drill...or none at all. It would likely be a good one for someone here.
I sent an email to a couple of dealers for those Tar River SAYA 507 drills. They seem about the best bang for the buck. They are pretty much sold out until fall at this point. I'm not sure I am serious about a drill anyway.

I used my 3 point grain drill for planting soybeans and my Impact forage collards. The drill worked slick as all heck. I will post picks when I get home on Monday.
