Just got moved into the new place up here. Trying to get my internet going, and it’s been a pain. My new place provides internet, I just need to provide my own modem. I just bought a brand new one a few months ago. I tried support from everyone, and all told me to eat shit: New internet provider: “not our router” Old provider that sold it to me: “you’re not a customer anymore” Manufacturer: has no phone or chat support. Must fill out a form and wait. It looks like I am connected to my router, but I’m not getting internet. It worked on the hard wire connection, but after rebooting, nothing works. Any ideas?

You’re connected to the router fine but, the router is not getting a signal from the modem. It’s either not connected to it or the modem isn’t active and working. Any red lights on the modem? Can you connect directly to the modem and use your pc/laptop? If the direct connect works then check the cabling between the router and modem.
I’m not sure what you mean by they provide internet but, not the modem? They’d normally have to activate your service and take information from your modem I’d think.
Find the blind neighbor across the hall and see how they got setup.

Is your pc connected to the router/modem? No, haven't tried the PC yet. I'm still trying to get my TVs working. I've got OTA TV, but I can only take so much CIA programming.

Find the blind neighbor across the hall and see how they got setup. I checked all the lights on the modem. It indicated it was receiving information, but nothing was being drawn by any of my stuff. I should mention, this is an all in one modem/wireless router. It's a Hitron CODA-4582. I used the coax and network cable they sent. I'll try to connect my pc to it when I get home. I'm in the office this afternoon getting this deal off the ground. The apartment complex pays for a basic internet service, so I don't even need an account, just my own modem and router. The connections are in the laundry room, and that's where I'm supposed to put my modem/router. It was the damndest thing. I hooked it up, and it fed internet to my port in the living room, and we had internet TV last night and today. I went to reboot it to try to get my Amazon Fire Stick working in the bedroom, and now I lost my hard connection in the living room too.

Whenever I've bought a new modem, I've had to talk to my ISP to give them the MAC address before they'd let it on their network. It's like the VIN on your Subaru, there's only one. But, your ISP may not have this requirement. It's been a long time since I got a new thing to connect to the Internet that doesn't just come from my ISP. I gave up trying to do things better and just go with good enough nowadays when it comes to my ISP.

I’m on the same thoughts as Kooch. For better or worse. Lol
The ISP usually asks for the modem ID in the bottom of the modem. I usually have to enter the ISP ID and password as well. Maybe your dip is set up differently. Look for red lights. If you see them power off the router and modem and power back on. I have to do that 3-4 times a day with my ISP.

Just reading this makes my head hurt. I hate computer problems.
If you really want the issue to get resolved you should call Puerto Rican Shiella and see if she can fix your problem.

No red or bad lights on the modem. I had another dude also tell me to try to connect directly to it as well, so I'll try that right away. I'll also try going through the setup process again to see if that will work. I hope it isn't cables. They all worked when I left SF.

She's kinda like a vampire, harmless so long as you don't invite her in the house. But once she's in, it's hard to get her to leave.

I’m forgetting my past but, some of the older Ethernet cables would work one way but, not another. Sometimes you had to switch them around. Kooch probably knows what I’m talking about. If the direct connect works then it’s probably the cabling in between the router and modem. Try switching the cable from the wall with the router/modem cable.

I connected my pc directly to the modem/router, and it hooked up to the internet right away.
