Had anyone hunted in this area? Is the nearby reservation an issue here? Any feedback … Thanks I used to hunt that area in the 70's.....maybe about 5 years or so? lots of deer and moose and wildlife of all kinds back then. Had an old High School friend that hunted there too....but with another group of his relatives. The bar in Grygla is an interesting place....when you walk though the door that says 'men" you stepped outside....and would just pee against the wall out there (at least in those days). I did not witness this....but my H.S. friend told me that he and about 4 of his relatives....broke their beer bottles off on the table (or bar?) and used them like a knife to back out of the door as they held off some Indians....and made their 'escape" from the bar.....back to their hunting camp. (they used to pitch a big army tent and would all camp together under the big tent....even had pallets on the ground to walk on....crazy times.) On more than one occasion I saw a group of Indians driving with spotlights shining on either side of the road and guns out the windows as they would road hunt deer. I think this was on the reservation lands.....but may be not (can't remember?). I don't hunt that area anymore. You be the judge.

There’s a parcel of land that is cheap up there with woods/crop land. It might be cheap for a reason,, just don’t know?
Supposedly good hunting.

I do not think I would own land there....although we did have very good hunting there. Saw the biggest buck in my life....very near to this area. A young kid did get this deer after tracking it all day. he wounded it early one morning....and I saw it heading my way.....thought I may be able to shoot him....until he turned into the timber. The kid was not too far behind....and told me he had a pretty good shot on this buck....and there was a blood trail of sorts....and it was snowing fairly hard........so he was going to keep on this deer really hard to get. it to bleed out. I saw that kid at sundown....and he had that MONSTER buck in the back of a station wagon. I cannot remember what it scored or the weight any more.....but it was hands down the biggest buck killed in the state of MN that year. Maybe that was about 1975 or so?? It was on the cover of Outdoor News. I was proud to even see such a deer on the hoof.
