You will always be able to compete, but if the land owner with the standing bean/corn loaded acerage hunting/access game is on point and they dont pressure the land it will be hard. You'll obviously be able to draw with clover and greenery early and mid season to the rut but if the dude has an endless supply of beans or corn and zero pressure that's where the deer will be during the late season.
Of course if the neighbors property isn't laid out right and they dont hunt or access it right you will definitely capitalize.
I would do everything possible to have beans or standing corn because nothing compares to grains. Maybe even try to use an electric fence and hold the beans I'm a smaller plot.
In OH baiting is legal so it's almost the flip side of that everyone baits so if you also bait but also have the other green clover and cerals brassica you'll have the edge.

You may find this place a little different than other forums. But there is a lot of knowledge here, weather it be apple trees, plots or whiskey. Hang on and enjoy the ride. Oh I forgot to tell you feel fuckin free to express your opinion were not thin skinned here. Also it would be nice to fill in your location so we get a better idea of your area.

Welcome, trooper.
Like Tooln said, we are a different bunch. Some of us have known each electronically for decades. Some have met in person. We are a bit rough around the edges.

Good to see you here trooper. Check your pm on the snowflake site.
I’m thinking about some chufa this year. More turkeys would be good and Yoder won’t approve. Win win.

Is baiting legal year round in Ohio or just during the seasons?

Baiting migratory birds is a federal thing. Turkeys are a state choice. In KS I think most deer hunters bait, but it's usually just something to hunt over. The outfitters are notorious for dumping tons of corn to keep customers on deer. Many advertise it as something that makes them better than their competitors.

This year I left more beans than normal on one farm (Swift Falls). Man are the deer hitting it now. We have a couple nice bucks that are bedding close and feeding in the beans, plus 20+ does & and smaller bucks. I really hate to get in this pattern, because my farmers do not like leaving that much and it is spendy.
*This buck is in the beans frequently, it has helped protect him from getting shot by the neighbors!

Too bad he doesn’t have a tag left! I’m sure he’d love to!

You should shoot that buck- My boys have a tag, but he is tough to hunt! Comes out to the timber edge just before dark. Not every night though. Smart sucker!
