Got me thinking about what I take; mini-binoculars, grunt tube, phone, maybe a granola bar if I intend to be out past noon. Not much. This is where I am headed, less is better. I prefer sitting open station and getting into the stand, minimizing my scent and keeping my movement to a minimum is best accomplished with less gear. With my clothing I seem to have plenty of front pockets. I typically bring ammo, headlamp, knife, cleaning gloves, phone, granola bar and scent direction puffer.

This is what I already brought out to my stand for Saturday for my daughter and I trying to make sure she's comfortable: Sleeping bag, 5 gallon bucket for her to go to bathroom in, two small umbrellas, my piss bottle. She'll be bring her own pack full of snacks and a portable phone charger. I'll have the kill kit, snacks, water, seat pads for stand, extra clothes, etc in my pack...

When I black powder I use a little camouflaged shoulder bag with 2 reloads and my starting tool.
Use something similar for my turkey calls

I just remembered that sometimes I grab a couple of rattling antlers to take with me. They aren't a big deal though as if I forget them I can always just pick up a couple of sheds off the ground on my way in.

So does anyone have a good solution for a smaller pack that stays put on your shoulder? I can't stand the one I have. Don't hate it enough to do anything about it. I did clean it out, and I'm only using about 10% of the space of a normal sized backpack. It has a habit of sliding off my shoulder. It's loud. I don't like the zippers. I gotta look at this again. There's got to be a better way.

Nice looking pack and functional design. I also get tired of the double shoulder strap. I wonder if a guy could have the pack in the front so you could sling a gun in the back?

Pack for me: binos, range finder, tablet to look at cam pics in the stand, camera cards, batteries, water, calls, flashlight. I leave all my gutting crap in another bag in the vehicle, and will walk back to get it when needed. I also keep my hat, gloves, neck warmer in the pack until I'm I'm the stand and cooled down. I strap my quiver to my pack so my bow stays lighter for aiming and I like to lay it on my lap when in the stand, so having the quiver off is ideal.

After using the new satchel I figured something similar would be better with not thirteen fourteen pockets but rather one small one and a couple three large ones with more overall width to the bag. Picked up an Israeli Paratrooper Bag by Fox Cargo at Glen's in Grand Rapids for $20 that had pretty much everything I was looking for. Did change out the shoulder strap for a larger one from a clothes bag. The paratrooper bag will fit my orange bibs (not the jacket too) a sweatshirt, gloves, neck gaitor, face cover, wool socks. Basically a bag to carry the heavy stuff until I get to a stand. www.foxoutdoor.com/ItemDetails.aspx?win=42-17&cid=4&ccid=32&cscid=272Also, for those not familiar with Glen's, leave your wallet in your truck if you don't want it empty when you leave. They even had ammo.

Did change out the shoulder strap for a larger one from a clothes bag. The paratrooper bag will fit my orange bibs (not the jacket too) a sweatshirt, gloves, neck gaitor, face cover, wool socks, with room to spare. There was a lady came into the office the other day, and she had a mini-backpack with a long strap on it. I stopped her in her tracks and asked her where she got that. She told me I had to run up to Scheels. I then ran her through my problem of finding the right gear bag for bowhunting. She said what I wanted was in the women's accessories section at Scheels. I'll head up there at some point and see.
