There was shooting by us but I’ve heard more. Pretty quiet this morning. Didn’t see a deer this morning. Windy this afternoon. Went home instead.

My dad and I saw 9 does/ fawns between the two of us over 3 hunts each. There was quite a bit of shooting in the neighborhood, but that is normal. the deer up there do not deal well with any human pressure and there were hunters, trucks and atv's everywhere. The deer we saw were heading to my swamp, so that was good to see. Too bad the bucks were nowhere to be found.

Me and my two boys saw about 25 deer this weekend in WI. My son shot this buck right in his bed when the sun came up Saturday morning. It was bedded at the base of the hill below his ladder stand.

^ Great buck, looks like a warm opener. Where in Wisconsin do you hunt?

I was listening to a radio outdoor show from Wisconsin this morning. The two guys hunted camps in the northwest part of the state. One of them said they had hunted that area since the ‘60’s.
Their comment was that there was very little natural deer movement due to hunting pressure all fall in the surrounding lands. It has changed over the last ten years for the rifle hunt.
I have two questions. 1. Has adding crossbows to the bow season increased hunting pressure?
2. Could legalized baiting be causing the lack of natural deer movement? Either the deer no longer need to move as they feed after dark or is the increased disturbance from hauling in bait causing them to go nocturnal?

I’m guessing baiting has more of an effect than the minor increase in activity due to crossbows.
