Is it possible? I know you guys up north sometimes hunt out of box blinds due to the cold and whatnot. Is it possible to make something scentproof so that you could hunt that awesome spot that is impossible due to constantly swirling winds and thermals? I'm considering a mostly underground type of thing. Anybody go there before?

Helps with noise too.

We (my dad) has struggled hunting out of the blinds that we don't have raised. I'm not sure going lower would help. If anything, I'll have a lot of work to do next spring raising the one I built this past spring and only put up 2'. I don't know if it's scent but more deer just not liking stuff on the ground and the windows being open/closed when he's there and not.

Good to know about the Redneck.
I struggle with blinds. I hunt from the ground a lot for mobility. Can't stand to wear a hat over my ears. And even though I like being elevated it drives me crazy to climb a ladder because you can't do it sneakily. With all that said I do have spots that are unhuntable. I want to find a way to make it work.

My redneck stand can also be hunted from any wind direction when the windows are closed. you eventually have to open a window to shoot, but I haven't had an issue with that.

I'm considering a mostly underground type of thing. Anybody go there before? I don't think you can beat 'em. It's just a guess. I wonder about scent thermals coming out of the tower I've got. Even with all the windows shut tight, there are two vents in it that allow air in and out. I also wonder if that air carries just high enough cause it may be a few degrees warmer than outside? I've gotta have the windows cracked in that Banks, otherwise they foggy up something awful. I don't plan to have wind blowing at the critters if at all possible. I also had trouble getting critters anywhere near the ground blind in the NPC this year. The food was just as good in front of that thing as it was in the hoog part of the NPC. But the hoog was also much closer to escape territory than the spoils expansion and didn't run out of food. I never got close to a deer in the NPC this year, and I think that's largely due to the big dig, possibly raising that thing up 30", and doing such a flashy remodel.

Body bag?
Movement might be difficult.

I would have zero expectations of comfort (I already don't like blinds). No vents and no open windows. Just something that would allow me to hunt an unhuntable spot.

Body bag?
Movement might be difficult.
Lolyou might be surprised at what I've done to contain scent. Chest waders and homemade arm length gloves come to mind.

What does a deer smell? Your body odor, breath, stink on your clothes any and all of the above?
I hunt hills. Thermals often blow opposite of wind direction. Winds swirl.
I shower. I do scent free laundry and I still get busted by the old deer. I do think the young and dumb let me get away with more thanks to being clean.
I haven’t seen a mature deer on a plot all season. I have a record number of encounters this year with big bucks but all have been in the woods and I don’t think a blind will be an option in my best spots.
Ive wondered about ozone for my clothes. Would that help? Maybe cat’s question leads to a breakthrough.
I’m starting to think maybe I should only hunt in high predictable winds. But then a buck will come from an unexpected direction. Maybe it will just take luck before I put it all together and kill a nice bow buck again.

Maybe it will just take luck before I put it all together and kill a nice bow buck again. I mostly hunt highly predictable winds with a terrain feature behind me that discourages deer movement such as a lake, a barren hill with no cover, or a highway. I'm good at not getting busted but at the cost of only being able to hunt a small fraction of the land I have access to. Ozone does help! I do my clothes often and even hit each room in the house once in a while.

Here's the rest of the video from my buck hunt. He's straight down wind of me. I'm in a shadow hunter blind. He's onto me but can't quite get my scent.
