You got them oriented according to wind direction or terrain features? Yeah. Under the best conifers, and the V facing south. The opening on the south side of the canopy.

I did some minor scouting in Iowa and noticed deer beds near lone cedar trees in the hardwoods. I think I will tip more trees in the vicinity and also tip a few cedar that are bunched up. They seem to like the loners or small groups.
I also found quite a few Ironwood down there in one area (shaking my head) chainsaw duller!!

Did you orientate them all the same way or give them some options for different wind and sun directions? That had to be a pretty satisfying moment seeing that deer bed. Awesome work.

There must have been two dozen rubs going back into where I dropped all the popple a few years back. I think we have a Deer bed under this clump of willows. I also planted a few spruce plugs back in there. I wish I had my folding saw along to release them. This is a small point extending into a swamp.

I will probably need to do this 2-3 more times if I am able.

I've been releasing spruce with diesel/crossbow. Seems to last longer than doing so with the saw.

Couple deer beds I had made last year had gotten some use in the winter. Eating cedar needles must tire them out
