I'm going to pull it out of CRP and enjoy a taste of freedom. American plum is high on my list for fast, thick cover. Ninebark and ROD are on the list too. Love it. Now enjoy some more freedom while pulling more out of tillable You know you're going to want to at some point anyways!

You guys remember when Brad would ask one simple question about beans, and we’d get 4 pages in and not answer his original question? I miss those threads.

I'll be too old to care by the time they make cover. I think you will be surprised at their growth. They will rest for about 3 years, then they take off. Heck, I will probably plant a few spruce next spring and I have quite a few years on you.

I'd keep them until they get about 10" in diameter and then hinge most of them for winter rooster cover. Maybe keep a few around for future tree stand location. Eh, get some Redneck blinds. I like spending other peoples money.

I ain't climbing no more trees. Ground blinds, elevated box blinds, stumps, upside down buckets in the brush.... all of these are a yes, ladder stands are fine I guess. But I am no longer climbing like a monkey.

I sold a farm for a guy in Traverse County MN to Pheasants Forever. Traverse topography and soils would be similar to your Nassau place. There was an old grove that had been cleared and after they cleared it 10 years worth of cottonwood, ash and Boxelder grew up in that 9 acre block . It was the go to location for many deer. Rubs all over, trails, insane. It’s public land now? Don’t know what it looks like present day. But it was impressive.
I could see your 25 acres growing up super thick.

The cow grass is thick in the pasture and I think burning it, and running a disc over it might help speed things up.
