I'll be honest, I do struggle a bit with the cell cams. I suppose like most anything else, it's how they're used. If a guy is using them in "real time" to pattern a specific buck...I'm not sure that is "fair". To me, there's a very real difference between using your own eyes and a spotting scope/binocs to pattern a specific buck and using a cell cam. Just my $.02 I’m too far away to have cell cams be cheating, imo. Even when I’m up for the weekend it’s not like I got a picture of a buck and then went and killed it as a result of that pic/info. Where I shot mine this fall I didn’t have a cell cam in that area. I saw him the night before and went back the next morning thinking he might come back thru. And sure as shit he did. It’s just a nice way to know what’s around w/o having to disturb everything all the time. Right, that's the "unfair" advantage.

There was a guy in New Hampshire a couple years ago that got a monster buck he’d been after for a couple years. He knew he was living in a 10 acre piece. He had over 20 cameras set up on the perimeter exit trails on that property and checked them until he figured out the exact travel patterns of the buck and got him. I don’t believe it was his property either. To me that is an unfair advantage. I have noticed the online stories about his success have now removed the trail camera part of the hunt. Imagine if they were all cell? He couldn’t use cell cams in NH and be legal now though.

A cell cam would help me quite a bit (I think). Experience has shown that on my place a new buck will stick around for around 3 days before moving on (November type movement). Currently if he shows up on a Monday through Thursday I'm out of the loop. If I cell cam sending me pics of the day he showed up I could possibly be able to pull off some mid-week hunts and have a chance. I'm not against this, just don't have a cell cam.

If I were younger and all enthused at needing to shoot a big buck, I am sure I would have cell cams.
For now, I am happy to just go about things the old way and if a nice buck shows up I shoot him. If I am tired of hunting I might also shoot a smaller buck.
Another mounted head on the wall is nice, but not really a priority. I would rather see my wife or daughter shoot him.

I’ll be adding more cell cameras to hunt poachers and trespassers. They’ve helped me catch three this fall. I will say trail camera photos give me some hope to keep hunting on our property day after day without seeing a deer. I think we’ve only killed one deer in 13 years that we actually had photos of that season prior to killing them though. Without photos of a buck in the area it does make it tougher to want to get up on a cold or rainy morning and hunt. That is a little advantage.

Wow. ^ That kind of perseverance in your hunting is amazing. Gotta believe I would bail....and hunt out of state.

Have you seen the lastest graphs for fishing? Now that is getting extreme.

More in one week than I’ve seen during the last 4 full seasons in NH. To be honest, that seemed too easy but, I’m not one to look a gift horse in the mouth. I would definitely concentrate on archery if I lived in Ohio.

Have you seen the lastest graphs for fishing? Now that is getting extreme. I got overwhelmed last year looking for a basic unit. The top of the line graphs are unreal. I don't fish much at all anymore, but that type of technology isn't why I used to enjoy fishing.

Have you seen the lastest graphs for fishing? Now that is getting extreme. Mega SI (side imaging) is cheating. When we go to the lake I have the kid mow and I go find all the main basin fish in the lake. We put the mower away and usually pull one to 4 fish from each school bang bang bang. Sometimes I find 2 schools. Sometimes 9 or 10. Crazy efficient.

I have a far outdated SI, but I have seen some muskies and other fish with it.
I saw a video of one of the current products and they had a muskie coming to hit a sucker that they were soaking.

I usually get frustrated with trying to operate those features and quit. I'm sure mine is all out of date and needs an update. Follow the contour is really frustrating....as it does not nessessarly work all the time. Grrrr. Tech. Mostly I just use the depth features now.

I found a school of 60 lb bighead carp down by Morton MN last year. You could see the eyeballs low on the sides of their head. Kids thought I was messing with them until I pushed them towards shore and 2 of them tried jumping out of the water.

NH house is legislating for new trail cam laws requiring written permission to place a trail camera on someone else’s property. Currently there are no laws preventing that here. They’re also looking at the cell cameras and putting in a specific time frame between viewing photos and hunting. This would be for all properties private and public.
