This will be a short thread. Hunted a secluded pond at the end of December. Rain poured and we didn’t see a bird. The rest of the season has been tough. Found a lot of birds but couldn’t get permission due to competitors. Second hunt was last night. The field was not the X which is usually a recipe for failure around here. Lots of birds in the area so we found enough dumb ones.

So Jealous that you were still able to hunt waterfowl.

Nice looking dog. Is that a Golden Retriever?

Yes. He is a golden.
He still thinks he can’t pick up a goose so he was not much help. He lacks experience. Two years ago he was battling cancer and didn’t hunt. Last year we didn’t kill shit. This year we didn’t kill shit till last weekend. I have let him down as an owner. I should be killing more birds for such a smart dog.

Pro tip: Hide socks around the house. Dog feel like king.

Still at it. Scratched out few more from the same field. Not hunting the X. Lots of geese in the area. Didn’t see a duck but expected to be covered in them since duck closed last Sunday.

My hunting partner did! We knocked 4 down in one flight. Went to gather my two and my buddy shot that one when it got a little too lively in the field.
Damn cripples are hard to kill. I stomped heads he blew one off.

Looks like some good hunting! I hate chasing cripples. They are tough (and usually expensive to kill), eat especially on water.
