For the last 3-4 years I participated in the Ohio bow hunter survey. They give me a link and I record sighting after each hunt. The survey ends with the start of gun season.
I wish they supplied more data like private vs public land. That gets submitted but not reported.
Here are my results.
STATEWIDE RESULTS 1,043 hunters recorded at least one hunt in the 2021 survey. These hunters spent 29,660 hours on stand and reported 25,618 deer observations - a statewide sighting rate of 0.86 deer per hour (or 1 deer sighting for every 1.16 hours hunted).
COUNTY-SPECIFIC SUMMARY Jackson County: You recorded 75.5 hours on stand and 74 deer observations – a sighting rate of 0.98 deer per hour.
A total of 21 hunters contributed data for Jackson County, recording 508 hours on stand and 392 deer observations, resulting in a county-wide sighting rate of 0.77 deer per hour.
Vinton County: You recorded 20 hours on stand and 24 deer observations – a sighting rate of 1.2 deer per hour.
A total of 25 hunters contributed data for Vinton County, recording 724.5 hours on stand and 281 deer observations, resulting in a county-wide sighting rate of 0.39 deer per hour.
Gallia County: You recorded 2.5 hours on stand and 2 deer observations – a sighting rate of 0.8 deer per hour.
A total of 13 hunters contributed data for Gallia County, recording 422 hours on stand and 369 deer observations, resulting in a county-wide sighting rate of 0.87 deer per hour.

Ps
Please don’t point out to my wife that I spent nearly 100 hours on stand last October and November.

That is a pretty good rate of deer per hour (sightings)!
