My daughter shot a Jake this morning. Put on a nice show on the way in and with limited time upcoming she decided to drill it. 15 yards maybe. Congrats to you and your daughter.

Found this on my trail yesterday. It was not there Saturday. I am going all out against predators next season. We have found busted nests or random eggs laying around the last 3 seasons. And turkey numbers are down.

The turkeys will re-nest, so you could save some birds if you throw some traps out now.

Daughter decided to stay home so I went with just my dad this morning. It was my third time setting up on this bird and dad hunted him once or twice alone.
We each sat up in an area he had headed to right off roost. Bird came just over the ridge from me gobbling then headed towards dad. Dad got him at 22 yards. Bird was on ground maybe 5 minutes before the shot. Sometimes it’s fast and easy but most of this season has been pretty hard.

Kid called in a tom to the decoy at 15 yards this morning and his buddy got busted drawing his bow. Still a couple weeks left in MN.

I haven't had a chance to post, but last Friday my son and I finally had a great turkey hunt. I've been hunting with my 9 year old a lot and it has been really tough - we never saw a bird his first 5 times out. Friday morning we hunted before school and we saw a few birds in the distance, but not on the farm we were hunting. My dad filled his tag earlier and he is retired, so he scouts turkeys for me during the day. He saw birds a mile away from the farm we hunted and he knocked on the door and got us permission on that new farm. We went out again after school and set up on a wooded fenceline where we had a decent view. We were primarily trying to get a better lay of the land for the following morning's hunt. My dad tagged along as well since he thought it should be a fun hunt to watch. After 1/2 hour we had a hen come right into the decoy (I also must say the Dave Smith decoy we used this year is 10X better than any other decoy I've used). My son thought that was unbelievable to have a live turkey playing with a decoy 15 yards away. An hour later and another hen was heading our way with 2 toms following her. My son was getting pretty excited and then 2 other toms ran in from behind us right into the decoy. My son followed the game plan and he shot the first tom and then I shot the second. I don't think I've ever seen my son that excited. He told my dad that he thought he was having a heart attack since his heart was beating too fast.

Great job Ben and son and to have your dad there too is great! My goal was to double up this spring with my daughter. We both ended up shooting birds but not on the same day!! Super cool.

Great day for you and the boy.
Hope you have many more like that. They grow fast!
I heard on kfan this week... The days are long when you have kids but the years are short. Man is that so true. Congrats.

I wasn’t on here much this spring, figured I’d throw up a picture since I can’t get a buck with my bow 🥴
