Had an awesome morning even though I didn't harvest a bird. Lots of gobbling on roost. Then about 8:00 am had what I thought was a mature bird gobbling it's head off come in with his 7 brothers. All jakes. They put on quite a show for an hour or so. They left. Then about 10:30 saw some birds behind blind about 200 yards away. 2 birds were fanned out. Did some calling but they worked away from us. Then at 11 I did some blind calling and a loud gobble behind blind and close. As I peeked out side window saw a whole flock of birds, all jakes. Started counting, 13 of them. I have saw big flocks in the fall but never saw this many jakes together. They all came into decoys with several picking on my jake decoy. My wife was sitting with me and she has never saw any thing like this. This video is dedicated to Art/Sandbur.

Maybe if I got into turkey hunting, I would appreciate them more, but then I would need something else to complain about! I have had two partridge (grouse) drumming on my farm and a hand full of roosters crowing. I have sandhill cranes and heard my first woodcock doing his sky dance. The turkeys have mostly been on the quarter section to the north which is fine with me!
