It’s time we start a new thread instead of adding on to the 2021 thread. My corn plots are in. The deer are still crossing them. The narrow end of this plot( the foreground). Gets stripped every year, but it makes access easy. Chicken manure was spread, disked, and planted. crab apples are in bloom.

2 lbs of sweet corn in today. Now rain please! What are you using for a planter? Did you ever buy another chain guard? This is what I am doing to keep mine on, a very large wire tie. I plant tomorrow, we will see how it works.

I been using a bungee cord.....but that zip tie looks like a better solution. Big improvements over the baling wire that used to be used. True story. I fixed a cows jaw with baking wire. She broke it right in the middle in the front. I didn’t know what to do so I wired her front teeth together. It healed and she was fine. Foggy, you need any dental work done? I only work for cash!

Holy shit Sandbur!!!!!!!!!!!! How long did that take to heal and how the hell did the cow survive with wire not shredding the inside of her mouth.

Rye is starting to take off now. Grew over a foot in the last week. Some pretty good clover in places too....tho it could be better. (I think the drill buried the small seeds too deep and I am in the process of modding my drill to do what Great Plains does with small seeds. 2.5 inches of rain in the past week too. Hoping to plant "green" into that rye sometime this week.....then roll / crimp that rye before it goes to seed. Gonna plant Green Cover Summer release on 6 acres and I got buckwheat for 4 acres of my poorer soils. Play tt by ear after that. Pics today. I have a shit ton of service berry bushes around my land. All is voluntary. May not be a great deer food...but it does provide some screen and I suppose the birds like it? Dunno. Also saw this by Randy Vanderdeen on Facebook.....and I think this somewhat nails it for my sand.

I bent the wire over and next to the teeth so there was little damage there. I suspect we removed the wire in about two months or so. I remember removing it.

No brassica mixed in. I did see brassica with rye at one time near Kimball, Mn. The turnips looked nice and it was rental irrigated land that had grown edible peas.

Up by land trying to get my bean plots in. Pretty wet, for tiller so taking the disc to open it up so it dries up a little. My son and wife are making me sit on side lines as I go this Tuesday for tests and a consult with electro physiologist to see how they are going to fix my afib. Took a chunk of skin off the back of my hand already and had a hard time stopping the bleeding due to the blood thinners they have me on. My wife scolded me and told me to sit my ass down and watch. Lol.
