Neighborhood, neighborhood, neighborhood..... While we have more obstacles to overcome than many states, the neighborhood issue holds true in a lot of places I'm sure. There's shitty hunting all over WI too, thanks in large part to at least some of the same reasons we have here (BiD nieghbors, large chunks of public land, too many antlerless tags issued by the DNR, etc.) True

They never asked MBI for a stance. MDHA has apparently agreed to support the $4 fee increase if DNR recodes its work. Its not going to get better. I can see only two things from the push for 50% of deer hunters license dollars being used for deer programs. One, slightly more accountability as they have to recode their work and no real difference in what is accomplished in the long run. Two, another fisheries crisis should not be able to take that 50% of deer hunter's license dollars. Just a tiny step. I wish the license fee increases were put off for a year or so.

Just a tiny step. I wish the license fee increases were put off for a year or so. I believe there are bills in the house and the senate to reject the deer license fee increase. I have sent emails to all of our elected asking them to hold off on the deer fee increase until they get to see how the DNR responds to the audit they conducted. Hopefully the DNR's arrogance catches up with them to an extent.

Why does MN have a game and fisheries budget shortfall?
Now they are in the papers, talking about job cuts to the staff, if we don't get the fee increases. Getting old.

When you work for the gov you need to have shortfalls or your budget never increases

Rule number one in government, always threaten to cut the most beloved to strong arm the people into caving to the hostage takers. Fed shutdown? Social security and food stamps are threatened. Schools? Football. Colleges? Tuition. State? Highway rest stops.

It sounds like there is a push for efficiency, which is good for government. They can not always ask for more money and keep doing things the same.

With all the hot weather on opening weekend, and it looks like harvest is down, should we push for a week delay to the firearms season for 2021 or even 2022. Lockers not taking deer, it is starting to add up to make a week delay a great idea..anyone on board to help get this on social media?
Farmers would love it too, as they are more likely to be done with harvest!

Farmers would love it too, as they are more likely to be done with harvest! My neighbors are farmers and bow hunters. They like to get their work done but do like to see big fields of standing corn during rifle season. More bucks and more deer survive the rifle season with those fields of standing corn. A couple of decades back, we had many, many acres of standing corn during rifle season. The following year, seven bucks over 200 pounds were killed within 2 miles or so of my house.
