I have two or three that I started from acorns years ago. The two up north are knee high.
The one at home is about 6 feet. The seed was from the south. I don’t think it pays for me to plant oaks, as my best ground is in crops, foodplots, or apple trees.

I think our river bottom place has plenty. Or some hybridization of them.
Edit: We never planted any. Just always been there.

I have a few in Iowa, definitely a bunch in Missouri. Planted ones in Minnesota. I am starting to see a few acorns off the planted ones. They grow fairly fast for an oak.

One week ago I had maybe 2 dozen acorns on one of my Swamp White Oaks. I checked today and they are all gone, no sign of anything below it -nothing...the critters must have wiped it out fast when they hit maturity.

Years back, I hot dome acorns from one of the forum member of the old forums. This is the only tree where I have had success. there are two trees up in USDA zone 3 that are the same age and are almost knee high.

They key is to put them in spots—where I can baby them. Really looking forward to the next 4-6 years and how many acorns they produce

This one at home got somewhat more attention.

I have a handful that survived from the 50 I got from MDC. I think I planted them in 2014 as 2’ trees. They range from 8-12’ now, I will be pretty excited if they ever produce.

I’ve got 25 swamp white, 25 bur, and 25 wild plum on order from Iowa DNR for the new property. I’ve ordered oaks from them last year and they were great looking trees.
