Art Art Art..... Tsk tsk Dont you know the tagging process yet??? Gut the deer, flip it over belly down, spread the back legs out, let it drain out, sit down on the back of the deer, take off jacket and hat(because now its sweaty time), catch breath, ponder for a moment why I just shot this deer since I have delicous angus in the freezer at home, tag deer, prepare to huff and puff and sweat pulling the deer out, Process complete. Tag deer and tag gets pulled off when you drag it out! NO PROBLEM! Have the CO help you find it. LOLLL

I just read where the local manager says Morrison, Todd, and Ottertail have too many deer and hunters won’t shoot enough does to control the herd. It might be true as I know many won’t shoot does.
What’s next?

Is a 3 deer limit justified? The fact is such a small percentage would ever take 3, i dont know that it matters much.I know few that even want to fill all their parties 1st tag. Most parties will party tag and never even buy a bonus tag.So 3 deer or 5 deer limit just doest come into play much. Its been stated some may take extra deer than in years past due to high meat prices. I can see that. But me, give me beef, cost is not a concern at this time. Yep.
I, a single person, ate 3 deer last year. Looking to get 4 this year. Part of that very small percentage. Most other hunters I know eat less than 1 deer a year by choice.
(I know the EA season is frowned upon, but if anyone is wanting to have a doe or two shot during the early antlerless season please send me a private message.)
No interest in having somebody whack a couple does here during EA, but if I can't get a young guy or two to come out and shoot a couple during firearm season I'd be open to somebody taking a couple during muzzleloader season.

Mission sort of accomplished. Not sure how much of an entire deer a fawn counts as, but two of them, two adult does, and most of a 1.5 year old buck making there way to my freezer. Kind of proud of doing all the butchering myself. Will be glad to not have to buy much meat this year.
All public land deer tagged in 4 different areas. Seen 8,9 deer a few days this year. Most days saw 2-4 deer. Seen no deer on 2 days. Hunted I think 10 days of regular gun season, and 7 days of muzzy.
I sometimes wish I was good at hunting as it took a lot of work.

If i didn't know any better, I'd say you were in any other state besides Minnesota. My hats off to you for your persistence and hard work. Very few will do what you did.

I am glad to see someone else on here shares my way of thinking and my way of living. We also process our own deer and seldom buy much beef. Those young deer are quality meat!
