I'm somewhat cheap at times, so I didn't want to spend money on a grafting knife the first year I tried grafting apple trees. I wanted to see if the grafting hobby was for me before I spent money on special tools. I just used a box cutter with a fresh razor for my cleft grafts and it worked really well (I clean the fresh razor blades off before using since some new blades have oil on them). I never did buy a special grafting knife since the box cutter worked well for me. If a few grafts don't take this year, just plant the failed rootstock in a pot and try grafting them next year. Grafting seems to get a little easier every year, but you never really know how things will turn out until that first leaf sprouts. I used that knife for all of the bench grafts. It worked fine.

I get pretty much the same results with a box cutter or with my single bevel Victorinox grafting knife. I do end up having to make more than one attempt at getting the angled cuts right with both from time to time though. Not a big deal when you have plenty of scion/rootstock to work with. When I'm working with scions I paid for, I don't want to be screwing around making multiple cuts and wasting material. That's when the double bladed pruner comes in handy.

I have a small house yard. If I plant these grafts and hold till fall, it will cut into my limited garden space.
I’m leaning towards planting mine and the other half going to cuz. If any fail, I will rework them next year. It might be a lot of grafting while on my knees but hopefully most take.
What becomes of a M111 if the grafts fail and they are just left to grow?

I would like to see the apple that they produce.

. Thanks for posting. Per my memory, B118 fruit was much deeper in color. Maybe over ripe. I might have a picture.
