I'm thinking of pulling a soil sample this fall so I am ready next spring. Seems like I have a hard time getting it completed before planting in the spring.
Are there any drawbacks to sampling in the fall? With my sandy soil I could see nitrogen changing but what else?

Lots of farmers do that. The nitrogen is not really tested for anyway.....they simply recommend how much you would need for an optimum crop.....as I recall.

I think some soil tests are taken on frozen ground...for that matter.
