Adding Bailey Sweet, Moore's Sweet, Lady Sweet, Monroe Sweet, Sweet Delicious, and South Dakota Bison scions from TOC. I'll add a couple more from Big Horse Creek if they ever open for orders.
I figure if I want these varieties at some point, I better get it done now. Who knows how much time any of us have...

You've got a couple years on me. I'm pretty sure I'll be done grafting and planting trees in a few years too. Maintaining what I've got will be my focus then.

With this new property I don’t want to jump the gun but, the soils are so good I have a feeling things are going to grow well and there’s a lot less bear.

I have a few more bigger trees to check, but so far it looks like the bears preferred my neighbors sweet corn over my apple trees. His sweet corn is exceptionally sweet!

So maybe I shouldn't be growing all these apple varieties with "sweet" as part of their names I don't think I had a single trailcam pic of a bear this year. That's just fine with me.

Nope. Plenty of stories about wolves in the area, but I haven't seen a track on any of the miles of roads I walk for years. I'm sure an occasional young male wanders through.

Big Horse Creek is open for scion orders. I ordered 2 sticks of Husk Sweet and 1 of Arkansas Sweet. They didn't offer a couple other "sweet" varieties I wanted this year. Oh well...

I went from 0 to 15 new varieties for 2023...geez. That's enough dammit
Now I have to figure out where/what they're going to get grafted to.

Someday somebody is going to ask what the hell the guy who planted all these weird apple varieties was thinking.

I have wondered a number of times how this place should be marketed when it's time to sell. Perhaps as a reservoir of antique apple varieties with plenty of opportunities to harvest low fat, organic venison instead of as a nice little deer hunting shack with numerous 125"+ bucks running around
