I am helping out someone in Florida with plowing their MN home's driveway with their ATV. The ATV keeps popping out of gear just after putting it in gear. So, put it in reverse, give it a bit of gas and it goes out of gear, put it in reverse and it stays in reverse. Same thing with low gear. Doesn't happen every time in high gear, but still happens.
I figure the linkage needs some adjustment, and is something for the owner to deal with in the spring. The owner thinks it's transmission fluid, but can't figure out what kind of fluid it takes. I'm sure when I go back there today I can get the model number and google what fluids it takes. A quick google image search shows a 2004 Bombardier Traxter that seems like the correct model. Anyone willing to throw out some guesses as to what is actually wrong with it? Or know what fluid it takes?

I’d guess the linkage as well but, I’m far from an expert. I had to take a hammer to my old Polaris sometimes to get it to pop out of reverse. Maybe try a CanAm forum ?

Got the driveway finished. I noticed that if I held the shifter into position for an extra second it seemed to set in, sort of like a solenoid was fully setting into place. I don't know, not my problem.
Also, this machine has the tranny shifter as hand operated under the left handle. That sucks for shifting reverse to forward to reverse over and over again.
