Is anybody else considering it after this winter? I think deer numbers will be hit hard. Time will tell. Dead fawns are showing up. I suspect there will be a lot less doe licenses.
I have been considering not buying a bow license, but imagine I will buy one just to hang the crossbow in the tree.

My plan is to buy one license from now on.

I’ll see how it plays out. I’d say yes reduce harvest … If they canceled the season it would not hurt my feelings!

I'm going to be very curious to see what the deer herd looks like come spring/summer. Where I'm at the deer either migrate to Maple Grove to eat out of bird feeders all winter and then likely get shot by snipers at night or head to a nearby county park. By the county park they've been moving to backyard as wells and I've seen numerous deer hit by cars this winter over there. Fingers crossed but I'm a bit worried. I haven't shot a deer since 2018.

I'll buy a bow tag, and if I don't get 1 that way, then I'll get a muzzleloader tag and hunt late season. Think I'll pass rifle this year. It just doesn't seem fun shooting them that way anymore. Too easy.

I see deer moving to backyards in lake country and rural areas.

Too easy. I felt like you at your age. Now I like a quick kill with a very short distance to drag a deer. We need to order a deer cart with bigger wheels for getting deer out. Even my wife agrees. Or else just shoot little ones.

It will be interesting to see how the deer numbers look this spring. The deer numbers in SE MN were actually a little high in some places and could probably stand to drop a little. I just don't think the winter has been bad enough to cause much change here.
I think my Rusk County place is another story as the farmer renting my tillable land said there is 40" of snow in the ground in the woods in some areas. He said there are a few scattered corn fields still standing within a few miles, so at least the deer numbers in those areas should be decent. I know my dad and I won't shoot does up there, but I'll likely still let my son shoot whatever he wants unless it is really bad.

I’ll know in about a month if the deer took a hit here. Definitely some fawns have died .

All depends on the regulations. The regular firearms license is the only for sure tag to buy. If its statewide bucks-only and I can't get it done with a rifle during the rut then I won't bother hunting any other season.
