0 for 8 in 172. I think 4 of us did not see a deer. 3 for sure. Never got a final recap from the BMF, but heard no reports of him seeing a deer. Is BMF sister brother and the other property? The BMF (pronounced bim-ph) is the Big Mother****er. He's marv's BIL and my dad played football with him in HS.

It’s very depressing not to see a deer ! I know you have good habitat too ! What's crazy is, every deer we saw this entire fall came from center of the property working outward to the food plots, except for the big group on Halloween monday, and a doe with two fawns that came in from my neighbor to the south. Despite the horrible sightings during the season, I think we're sitting pretty good if the geoengineers don't get them with winter. I think we had 6 unique does and 7 fawns regularly visit the property this season, and 5 bucks. No wall hangers, but a couple of those one-more-year bucks. I think there was one group lived in the middle, three lived to the west, one to the south, and one to the east, and they all converged on the plots at night to chow down. I base that on groupings seen: 1 doe, 2 fawns 1st doe, 1 fawn 2nd doe, 1 fawn that ran off first doe and fawn 2 does, 2 fawns together 2 does, 1 fawn only seen up around cabin, never in back plots Here's the halloween sit where I got to see 8 of them. I thought for sure we'd get some day bucks in with this happening just 4 days before gun opener. Shoulda shot that fat one that was broadside at 15 yards in front of the dirt pile. rumble.com/v3ssihg-bow-footage-halloween-2023.html

I think it’s ok to eat a tag. Reminds a guy that this is really turned into a sport about hunting not killing.

I filled a 2nd doe tag but I still have a buck tag and 2 doe tags that will go unfilled. I still had family members that gave me a puzzled face look when I said I was done hunting. They said, you still have tags to fill. I replied my freezer has enough, no need to reduce the herd even more. Some people will never get it.

I think it’s ok to eat a tag. Reminds a guy that this is really turned into a sport about hunting not killing. Absolutely and I enjoy passing deer, especially young bucks ! It’s fun to see them react to calls, or follow does. Hunters can learn a lot from deer/bucks by just observation and store it in the memory bank !

I've come to enjoy passing slam dunk shots on deer more and more every year. Now, if the north neighbors would continue to upgrade their buck harvest requirements the hunting around here could be really good. I don't really expect that to happen however.
We don't eat much red meat of any kind, so not having a "freezer full" of venison doesn't hurt my feelings.

This is hunting! Willing to eat your $225 tag by Passing a great buck at 21 yards waiting for a booner you know is in the area. And have the booner come by 2 years later at 85 yards in broad daylight and all you can do is film him.

Still alot of muzzy season to go, but after 2 days of Park hunting and not seeing a deer, I am guessing that my muzzy tag will be eaten well done this year.
After seeing all the deer in the big buck video above, got to wonder if hunting to see a deer is really hunting, or if choosing what deer to kill is really hunting.

Not near as much hunting pressure on the nearby WMA this weekend. One guy stopped by asking if he could hunt as there is nothing going on with that area or the other local areas open to hunting. There are a few deer on private lands but numbers are down 50-60% from last year. He didn’t think we had a bad winter last year. He is wrong from my view.

I do not want to have a bad winter by that person's opinion. Last winter was brutal.

It wasn't that cold last winter, but the snow came early, got deep early, and stayed deep late.

Can’t help some people are hunting in the wrong spot and some in the right spot.

Either way is hunting if you enjoy it. If you don’t enjoy it, either quit or move. For me, it is time to get the spear house out. I guess that means I quit until next November.
