If you read the articles in the latest Outdoor News, you will see that MN Democrats are trying to give away Red Lake and hundreds of thousands of public land acres to the Native Americans for nothing.. Including 155,000 of the White Earth State Forest .
Theres no guarantee of access, and no real plan ! It’s hard to even believe this is is real ? Vote these idiots out !

My understanding is that it does not affect the lake itself. just land.
However, I have not read anything official on what the hell is going on.
We just gave a state park back to indians in southern mn a couple weeks ago.

The tribal chairman has asked …”for the return of the entire Upper Lake plus a one mile buffer of land around the entire Upper Lake.”

Large amounts of the Chippewa National Forest are being returned to the Leech Lake Band. Is that a state decision or a federal decision??

Is that a state decision or a federal decision?? I think it is only federal. The Reservation bincludes much but not all of the national forest. I looked into it. It’s the US Forest Service who’s giving it back. Same group that took the land in Michigan a few years ago where hundreds of hunting camps were destroyed in the name of wilderness. Looking at the map it looks like an accident waiting to happen. There’s hundreds of plots here and there. Not a continuous block. There’ll be lots of confusion when that takes affect. It does sound like those lands and others were taken in the 1948-1959. Mostly under Democrat Truman. Some by Ike. Probably in the name of progress.

It's not just Red. It's a national initiative called the 'Land Back' movement. And it ain't stopping. www.cbglcollab.org/what-does-land-restitution-mean#:~:text=The%20Land%20Back%20movement%20advocates,and%20preferred%20for%20public%20lands. The government is transferring publicly held land within reservation boundaries back to the tribes. I believe Leech Lake land is underway, or already done. If you go into the Cass County GIS map tool, you can click on random parcels of land and find chunks owned by the state, the feds, and the county. With the stroke of a pen, they're gone. I predicted it. It's happening. The promise of public land was always a farce, and always will be. Once that land is gone, it's gone. Our descendants will never forgive us for this. Nor should they.

And we're shoveling hundreds and hundreds of parcels into this beast every year with sales tax money, lottery money, bonding money, pittman robbertson money, foundation money, pheasants forever money, DU money, university money, non profit money etc.
And the chinese and billionaire class is getting in on the race too. The kids are gonna be living in 15 minute cities eating bugs as the pen gets smaller and smaller by the day.

There goes SD and his crazy conspiracy theories. Who's the current top federal official in charge of all of our free land?
