IME, from a little market research, Black crappie and walleyes rule the roost. Bass and bluegills would follow. Most MNers fish public waters. Private waters are done in this state it's just not that popular....yet. We are trying to create a private pond market here in MN. The way the DNR keeps messing up the public water management, it shouldn't be too much of a stretch for us. hahaha

My goal is first to establish a healthy forage of fatheads, grass shrimp, crayfish and perch. Then I would follow with crappies and walleyes. The primary goal is to have consistent action while ice fishing harvesting everything of eating size and restocking walleye yearly. I want my predator fish to almost struggle due to competition thus making them eager to bite, trophy size is not a goal in this pond. I'm definitely open to a conversation though with your experience and passion for ice fishing.

Great looking place Riggs! I like everything about it. Did you leave those rocks in the bottom for structure?

I like rock piles for structure and something for fish to gather around but I will add pvc structures as they do a better job. I'm used to jigging for walleyes around rock piles on lakes so having them in my pond just feels right.
