Over a year later, but the flags are finally placed...the dig is tomorrow! These two are marking where the 10” drainage pipe system will be installed on the west side of the pond.

The pond? At my land in Kanabec County, MN. The flags? Map of the layout is on the previous page and show the outlet point on the west side.

Construction underway. The new dike is installed. This is in the location where the flags were placed in the previous picture used to be a washed out ditch.

It will vary, but always less than 3’. Not a fishing pond by any means, target for waterfowl and wetland critters.

Wow that is a lot of water already. Must've been pretty soupy to work with.
Now I understand why they need a tracked dirt hauler.

That’s awesome HH. Can’t wait to see the finished product! Thanks for sharing your pics. Is that all the deeper they would let you go?

To qualify as restoration project and work within the natural water basin the depth was somewhat limited. However, the depth works best for my plans as well. I have a couple other ponds on the property that are already holding 8-10’ of water if I want to go the fish route someday.

Pictures don’t really do justice to the end state in this case, but thought I’d give some updates. The dig focused on the area of the pond that will be 2-3’ and the water is being held in already in the deepest part. Still some work left to do in the perimeter where water levels will be the foot or less range over time.
