Something about take-out lobster seems bizarre to me. What kinda price for that meal?

Something about take-out lobster seems bizarre to me. What kinda price for that meal? The whole lobster was $14.99/lb. My cup of lobster stew was $10. Huge chunks of lobster. It was excellent. Lobster rolls at lunch were $18. Prices all seem about the same no matter where you look. Lots of places seem to do “take-out”.

The meat/juice sucked out of the tiny legs was the best part of the whole lobster. I tried a little bit of the tomalley as well (the green goop in the shell). That was really good.

For a "real" lobster experience a person needs to get well north of Bar Harbor (tourists) and find somebody who can hook you up directly with a lobsterman. Buy a dozen lobstahs, boil up a pot of sea water and add a bunch of seaweed. Ain't nothing like it

You guys talking lobster got me thinking; I don't think I've eaten one since I visited Maine in 99. That's a solid 20yrs!

I’m sure getting out an hour or so would be even better. Bar Harbor is like the dells basically. We’re going to hike around Jordan Pond tomorrow then drive through Seal Harbor, Northeast Harbor and Bass Harbor. Those are supposed to be more of the typical fishing villages. Except for the $15M mansions.

Except for the $15M mansions. To be honest, Bar Harbor was our least favorite spot in ME. We spent most of our time in Down East and Acadia areas. Bar Harbor was as far south as we spent any time. Mainers weren't pleasant to be around, but that could have been because our rental car had NY plates (like being in NE WI with Illinois plates). Jordan Pond is definitely worth the time, a fun hike

Hiked around Jordan Pond today and had the popovers afterwards. Timed it just right. Got right in. Place filled up while we were there. Had the boiled lobster tonight. First time eating a whole one. Only sprayed my face once.

Thurston’s Lobster Pound in Bernard was really good. Got the jumbo roll. Had to eat half by hand. Tons of meat on this one. Cool little harbor.

Have you ever bought lobsters right off a boat, then gone back to shore and cooked them in a steamer pot with some sea water and sea weed? I'm not sure it's better than the best steak I've had, but it's better than most steaks I've had.
