Welcome to the New America. Where politicians, the 1%, and their surrogates incite and encourage hatred, divisiveness and even violence between Americans so they can push their policies/agenda. It's only going to get worse from both sides unless we get a handle on the propaganda. The Alt/Fringe of both sides is too easily corrupted and malleable, and frequently mentally unwell.
I should probably go get my C&C.

Oh, so a politician gets targeted, and now it dictates immediate action.
The other 93 people a day that die according to him, are just wiped under the rug as non important to him up until today I guess.

What do you expect from a D. They will propose a bunch of new laws when they don't event know if would have prevented this. I.E lets close the gun show loops hole (90% of gun sold a gun shows go through a background check) and this guy probably bought his gun legally with a background check.

Based on the article the Virginia governor doesn't sound to bright. The US would run out of people pretty fast at 93 million shot every day.
Why do we need so many politicians?

When was the last time we had a right wing lunatic go on a rampage? Was it the Unabomber? Maybe the OKC bomber? Unless I'm mistaken, it's been a very long time (20 years-ish) since it's been anything other than a left wing nut job. What do you want to bet that DC parks like this are gun-free zones? Poor guy probably didn't know there was a guarded congressman in the bunch.
Anger is the platform of the lunatics. Anyone notice they don't have any policy positions right now? They haven't had any since November. They're just mad because people tell them they're supposed to be mad.

I had thought that about some other governors including ours.

They're just mad because people tell them they're supposed to be mad. You must have a remarkably narrow definition of right wing. Unless it's liberals attacking planned parenthood. prochoice.org/education-and-advocacy/violence/violence-statistics-and-history/I appreciate your attempt to make violence a partisan issue, but the problem is not democrats or republicans. It's shitty mental healthcare, it's rhetoric from politicians and "news" that encourages hatred and violence and pits Americans against each other. This country has survived and thrived for over 200 years being led by a mixture of liberals and conservatives, and yet 80% of the population is convinced the world will end if their party doesn't get elected. Learn to ignore the propaganda.

Do you ever see the right barking orders of who to hate each day? Make a list of who the left hates and who the right hates. See which one is bigger. Then see who bangs the drums each day getting their bases so stirred up that they can no longer function without constant feed of Xanax and Prozac. Did the right have marches, rallies, protests and plays celebrating their yearning to kill the president when PBO occupied the White House? The GOP rubberstamped almost all of Obama's agenda out of fear of being labeled a racist for even having a policy disagreement.
Libs make their people crazy chasing boogeymen that don't exist in lieu of an actual policy agenda. I'd challenge you to give me a list of five people from the right that incite so much anger and despair in people that they make them feel they need to arm up and go shoot the shit out of a crowd of innocent people.
Violence is 100% a partisan issue.

From a Washington Post article "Scalise, 51, a representative from Louisiana, is the third-highest ranking House Republican and has a round-the-clock Capitol Police detail." "Flake said that it took almost 10 minutes to take down the shooter." I think the Capital Police need to spend some more time at the shooting range, not that I would do better but they are professionals. Any bets on if the rifle was an AR? Eye witness said AK-47. Witness stories varied fromy a couple of minutes to 10, automatic handgun vs semiauto, etc. My wife was watching, I got fed up with non-stop speculation reporting and went back to work. Did I mention they were designed by two different people. i read an article that said M4 variant ... than on CNN last night they said "SKS, a AK-47 variant". It was nice to learn that the SKS (invented in 1945) is a variant of the AK-47 (invented in 1947) Did I mention they were designed by two different people.

They will throw every catch phase assault weapon menacing type term they can at it without ever reporting what it actually was... just to create their own bias in the viewers. I haven't watched any news since yesterday morning, I'm better off working in the sun all day and then sitting by the fire all night with a beer (or many) in my hand. I don't need to hear their speculations! They have no interest in finding facts or the truth like you did, they just want shock and awe to promote their agenda. You sound like you know the guns. I have both of the one's you listed; great guns to shoot. I have a blast with them.

I have both of the one's you listed; great guns to shoot. I have a blast with them. I agree the media like to throw out the "assault rifle" term. The SKS is no more an assault rifle than the M1 Garand. Military rifle yes, battle rifle I could probably accept that term. "Assault rifle" by definition need to have a select fire option i.e. change between semi auto and 3 round burst\full auto. The SKS was designed as a semi auto only. I own a few SKS myself, stock configuration they hold 10 rounds, but can be reloaded somewhat fast with stripper clips. Aftermarket magazines while larger are not always reliable. If he changed the rifle to have an aftermarket magazine did he change enough parts to become 922r compliant? (crazy law about modifying C&R eligible rifles) www.tapco.com/section922r/ I'm curious was this a Russian, Yugo, or Chinese version of the SKS.
