You got me to thinkin I should start looking at getting my rye picked up. I'm gonna get four bushels, 2 for my plots, a little for the Todd plot, and I'm overseeding all my existing clover with rye.

That pasja sounds interesting... may have to try some... it's late season draw right??? I got so busy this spring I never got my beans in. Guess I will add them to fall plots for early season attractant??

The deer by me start hitting the stuff in late September to early October after a couple frosts.

Won't it be too wet with the rain last night?

I have had an inch of rain the night before I planted and not had a problem. Antigo silt loam is really good soil. Drains well but holds moisture and grows stuff really well.

Wow. Quite a difference in a short distance.

When you 1st started telling me about how wet your land was, I could not believe it. Then I realized your land isn't far from Ackley and that is mostly clay and holds a lot of water also. From what I have been told the glaciers dumped all this good soil by me. Probably clay buried way under my good dirt.

I use to hunt a property that was always wet like that when I was in my early 20's. The farmer adjacent field was always wet too. He cut about a 10 foot deep ditch right on the edge of woods the length of property. Dried the woods and field up.

Did that land have any topography? Mine is really flat as a pancake. In some places lower spots are dryer than higher spots just because of water being trapped.

Stu he might have done tiling in field but I know he didn't in the woods.
