Played yesterday and shot a 44/45 for an 89. Breaking 90 is pretty good for me.....but now I got my head set on 85 and better. A guy I played with hit a hole-in-one yesterday......and I got to witness it. Free beer for everyone!. Then we went to dinner....and another guy I know had a hole in one......so he bought our table free drinks with our meal. Yowser! Free drinks are good! FORE!Is it true you drive for show and out for doe? For us duffers, what part of your game did you see the highest reduction in strokes? Driving, chipping putting?

Been said you need to do three things.....
1. Eliminate 3 putts. 2. Keep the ball in play - no penalties 3. I forget.....but it's important. Grin
FORE!
My game right now seems driver dependent. (but it changes from time. FORE!

Here's how to improve your game. Watch a few videos on Youtube.....of TOP SPEED GOLF, CLAY BALLARD. Google it. He is the best instructor.....and has a program to lead you step by step through the golf swing process. Dont expect to learn how to golf well overnight.....it takes a long time to get reliable and know this game. Sorry....its just the way it is. But you can have allot of fun as you learn how to play. LOTS of folks are duffers just like all of us were/are. Just get some instruction.....you cannot get profienct in a few outings or in a short time....unless you got special talent.
Anyway....the video lessons are only $50 annually.....and have more detailed instructions than you can absorb in six months......and the instructions are kinda like peeling an onion.....the more you learn.....the more your find your need to learn. It's that kinda game. Even the pros spend hours and hours of practice.
You can have allot of fun if you dedicate yourself after a few months and a few lessons. But it can get discouraging too. NOBODY was born knowing how to play this game.......and everyone that has played a bit understands what you need to go through.
Some days are diamonds....some are stones. FORE!

Short game has to be the key from the years I did play. that can eat up so many strokes so fast.

Learn how to get up and down from anywhere within 30-50 yards of green and you'll reduce strokes. Driving is nice and all, but you score around the green.

Won a tourney today in my thursday league. I did so-so and contributed to our team's score. But two high-handicap players really pulled allot of shots together to win it for our team. Lotsa fun......a little money.....and some bragging rights. FORE! I am now playing Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and a few Fridays and Saturdays. ON my off-days i am practicing some.....and making video's for my instructor. Grin. Life is ruff down here in OZ. Actually, This is a bit much golf for the long term and I plan to get into a Cribbage Club and go to the Gun Club more often. Maybe join the hiking club and computer club too. Also may sign up for the woodworking shop here......and fit a few knife scales to some blades. It's all good. FORE!

Hey Foggy, how much does golf cost at those courses down there. Do they have like a winter membership you buy? Golf fees can vary allot from average courses to the best courses. We bought a 75 round (husband and wife) 18 hole card which costs about $34 per round. Then if you exceed your rounds the additional rounds cost $34. (they charge your 1/2 price for 9 hole rounds) We have our own cart.....so that covers some expesnse. I suppose a cart would cost you another $10 per round.....but usually I ride with others or they ride with me if our wives have the carts. It seems to work out. Aso, during the hot months.....golf falls to very low costs. Like $12 to $20 at many top courses. So.....we would not use our "punch card" if we played during those times. Also, many courses have special deals that we often take advancer of. For example.....if you are a vet.....you can play at Luke AFB for $25 a round. Really nice course located about 8 miles from here. Et etc. Also.....the rates drop to about 1/2 after 3 or 4 pm. So sometimes we play late and pay the regular fees....which are lower than our punch card. My wife and I estimate we pay about $2500 per year for all the golf we can handle here in OZ. We also pay about $2000 in MN for a similar situation. It is allot of money.....but that is about 150 days of "entertainment" per year for us. I could not go fishing that many days for that cost (?). Not "cheap".....but we enjoy it over many other bad habits. In short......depending on how much your and your MS decide o play.....you could pay from $55 to $30 per round (on average) for golfing at good average desert courses. If you don't shop a bit.....you can pay from $70 to $150 for the better courses at prime times......even much more at Scottsdale. ;0 (those folks think they are "special" .....grin) My wife and I have both played about 4.5 rounds per week this past two-week period. Blush. That is allot of golf. OH.....and we both belong to putter-club on Wed. We also win a few hundred per year to spend at the pro-shops.....and get some prizes etc. So i suppose we could take $500 to $1000 off those costs in "free" clothing.

Going to Wickenberg to play at a resort next weekend with another couple. They won a free stay (for four) and two rounds of golf and a dinner at a local event. So....they invited us as we provided our home to them last summer for a few days. I suppose this package would cost $500 if we were to buy it.....but we won't. Such things just happen for your after you live around here. Lots of stuff like this as promotions for new places. FUN!
