Ok, so we all have them, some more than others. I figured to start this thread to share or just vent, so I'll start it off.
I'll turn 60 in Sept, I'm 6' tall and weighed 222 at my doctors apt last Friday. I've been border line diabetic for about a year and a half and was trying to control it without meds. Well that didn't work and doc put me on a low dose of metformin and told me I had to loose weight. I walk anywhere between 4-6 miles a day just at work depending on the night, so it's not like I'm not active. The wife was telling me she knows people who have lost a lot of weight by taking a shot or 2 of apple cider vinegar a day. So I figured I'd give it a try. I've drank some nasty tasting shots in my life but this shit is WICKED FRICKEN NASTY, but it appears t be working. I haven't really changed my diet very much other than not eating in the morning when I get home before I go to bed. Today when I got up I got on the scale and weighed 211.2. Did I say how bad that stuff taste. It doesn't get any better after doing it few days and I dread doing it, but will keep doing it as long as the weight keeps coming off. Anyone else ever try it or know of someone who has? Dale I wish I had some of your shine to use as a chaser.

Sorry to hear about the diabetes...that sucks. The apple cider vinegar thing (myth?) I've heard is to put a teaspoon or two full of the stuff in a glass of water and drink before each meal. Never tried it Reminds me of one of my students years ago. He had heard that drinking regular vinegar would "clean him out" for an upcoming urinalysis (he was on probation). I told him that was B.S. He swore up and down it would work. Next day I brought a jug of vinegar to school and told him to have at it if he wanted. He drank a water glass full of the stuff Didn't puke, but man he was green for awhile. Still failed his UA

Mix that ACV in w/ 8oz of water. Much easier to drink. I tried it one morning and had awfull shits later on or the next day. Not sure if it was from that cleaning me out or something else. Too afraid to try it again. haha. No clue on if it works but some swear by it.

Try mixing a couple drops of honey in the apple cider vinegar. Much easier to drink that way. Balsamic vinegar on a salad works to. I dropped 25 pounds so far this summer by cutting out second helpings and lots of golfing or walking.

In all honesty, here's how I dropped 55 pounds at age 29. (That was also about 25 more than I needed to).
Are you a reader, or an audio booker? I get shitloads of windshield time, so I audio booked.
Wheat Belly: Lose the wheat, lose the weight by Dr. William Davis
This doesn't work for everyone, but if you retain water like a pregnant woman after a hard bread/pasta binge, this might help you.
1. Quit drinking your calories. 2. No more processed food. 3. Only whole foods. 4. Focus on defeating your glucose/insulin rollercoaster. It's like a horrible game of curling.
it's hard to stop ingesting things that are comprised of more than 10 letters, but it can be done. Nuts, whole cuts of meat, un-processed cheese, whole veggies and fruit, no juices (Juice is the removal of the good and concentration of the bad).

Sucks to hear Mike. Best advice I can give you is to lower your overall carb intake starting immediately. Eat as many fresh veggies as you like, and within reason, as much meat as you like as long as you use leaner cuts of meat.

I've always eaten lean cuts. I'll have to eat more veggies. The hardest to give up or cut back on is bread and butter. As far as the beer I haven't had one in over 15 years. Whiskey, well that's a different story.

I 6'-0" and about 213 right now. Could definitely lose a few pounds which I am trying to do. Stop carb intake. Portion size down. And I am trying to walk every day on lunch.

6'4" and 240 here. I was 272 last winter. No drinking during the week (probably a good idea anyway), cut back on portion size, drastically increased vegetable intake (fills you up), pretty much eliminated white sugar and white flour (do cheat on weekends sometimes), started walking (not casual walking, purposeful walking). I plan to drop another 15 and it will probably take me until almost the New Year. 225 gets me out of the "obese" category and into "overweight". I'd have to weigh 190 to not be "overweight". I weighed more than that in middle school

The beer and booze intake is the hardest. I can change my eating and activity levels pretty easy. its hard to give up the beer and booze I want.

I enjoy drinking too. Probably enjoyed it too much for awhile, which is a huge part of why my weight ballooned. I especially enjoy drinking IPAs and double IPAs...pretty much like drinking a shitload of sugar water every night (when it comes to putting on weight anyway). I missed not drinking during the week for a couple weeks. Now, when I drink during the weekend I don't enjoy how I feel on Monday.
