I gained 40 pounds in the last 2.5 years with this new job. I have taken 10 off in the last month after doctor kicked me in the ass. I started drinking pure green tee. It has helped a lot with minor aches from chrones and arthritis. It is also suppose to help with my border line high cholesterol and high BP. I will have those retested in a few months after hopefully loosing some more weight. The last 3-4 years have been a down hill trend and at 42 it dawned on me I better switch some things up.

I was 200-210 lbs, and 6 ft tall for years following high school. Then one year, it was 10 lbs more... every year is 5-10 lbs more. 48 years old, and 250 lbs now. Often wonder how it would have felt to carry 50 lbs of corn around 15+ years ago, cuz thats what I do today in effect.
LOVE food. LOVE snacks. Friends and family have told me for years I need to open a restaurant. I come up with crazy shit thats damn tasty. Food is a motivator. Love having drinks with friends. I work from home, so happy hour is common place because I need to get out of my damn house and get some human interaction. Working from home is GREAT, but there is a point where you go nuts not being around people at some point.
Smoked a pork loin yesterday. Friend is a chef at a restaurant. He stopped by last night and said it was awesome. Food is the devil!!
Ho hum. Maybe tomorrow has been my motto for many years.

On my "diet" you could all the smoked pork loin you want...eat the whole damn thing in one sitting if you want. Just don't eat white rice, potatoes, bread, beer, or any other white sugar or white flour along with it I am convinced that white sugar and white flour are the two largest culprits of obesity (and all the deathly ailments that come along with it) in the civilized world

I enjoy drinking too. Probably enjoyed it too much for awhile, which is a huge part of why my weight ballooned. I especially enjoy drinking IPAs and double IPAs...pretty much like drinking a shitload of sugar water every night (when it comes to putting on weight anyway). I missed not drinking during the week for a couple weeks. Now, when I drink during the weekend I don't enjoy how I feel on Monday. I never had the hangover problem. At least not yet. I always wondered how bad whiskey is for your weight? I don't know to be honest compared to beer. You drink a lot less whiskey that volume of beer

Grains in general are not good for you and your pets.
My wife and I do pretty well during the week so we can enjoy a little more grain/beer on the weekend.
We focus on green vegetables, meats and fats. We do like whole grain rice but we rarely have potatoes.
I also know I feel much fuller and satisfied having a fat or protein compared to a grain like a granola bar.
One of my favorites is cottage cheese with Lao-Gan Chili Crisp. Spicy and satisfying but you need to drain some of the oil out.

I did the NO Carb diet for a while. It worked really well and fit how like to eat anyway (never been a big fan of breads and potatoes, like them but don't crave them like I do sugar). Anyway I was at a friends house one day and he had some crew-able flintstone vitamins out on the counter. I grabbed one and ate it... then grabbed another... and then another! They were the best damn thing I had ever eaten! Turns out they have sugar in them and I hadn't had sugar for months. I ended my diet that week.

The two things I'm working on now are eating while on the road all day for work, and eating on the road all day for work. It's two issues. The choices available from rural gas stations and cafes does not lend itself to healthy eating. It's also damn expensive. It would take me 1000+ calories to get full on tasty bad food like casey's pizza and a bag of sour cream and onion. What I've been doing is eating a small breakfast at home, then grab a couple bananas at the Holiday by my place, and then I'll fall back on some almonds if I can't make it home.
So far it's been going well on both the budget and health fronts, I'm still struggling with the social aspect of it. The guys wanna go eat shit at the cafe. I am faced with the choice of go with, or be the guy that doesn't.

Brown rice is slightly better for you than white rice. We eat a small amount of brown rice when I make things like jambalaya or crockpot chicken and veggies.

I also LOVE popcorn with my butter. Notice how I said Butter with my popcorn. I'm going to have to have the wife hide the butter, you can have your gf lick your balls to make them feel better. No cheating. I'll update my progress weekly.

As much as I like her licking my balls she isn't going anywhere near them this weekend. LOL Here is my plan. Keep walking. eat alot better including very little pasta and white bread crap. But still drink my beer and whiskey. We shall see if it works.

It ain't rocket science. Decrease overall calories (no matter what those calories are made up of) and increase overall activity = weight loss (barring some hormonal disorders anyway)
