Just curious if this is something witnessed by others. I hunt East Central MN, and have three different spots in about a half hour radius of each other. In two of the spots, I have small 1/10th acre clover plots. Both of them are deer magnets, but only does. One is new this year, way back in. Deer photos morning and evening, all does. The other one is on a ridge above a creek, an easy place to sneak in and hunt. Not far from where I park, but very thick all around it. Tons of morning and evening photos, all does. I had this field last fall too, and I did have a couple of pictures of bucks cruise through, but only one in daylight. Does anybody else notice this same thing? Do the does/fawns kind of keep the bucks away and hoard the good eats to themselves? I get buck pics in my beans/brassica plots on these same locations, so I just don't get it! Out of the 3,000 or so photos of deer this year on these two plots, i'd say I have about 50 pictures of 1 or 2 yearling bucks!

The boys are in bachelor groups because the women defend their domain fiercely until rut.
We see the same in humans. Once the does have fawns, the bucks are relegated to garages and basements. They're called man caves.

I see very similar with my clover plots.
At my parents house, I have a half acre next to the house. There are always does and fawns in it. Day or night. EXTREMELY rare that I have ever seen a deer with antlers in it any time of year. Trail cams have vastly more baldies than anything with antlers. Is it because its by the house? Does hang there all year and dont even run off the plot if you walk over to look at it.
I have a plot at the farm that I have had a cam on for a couple months now. I think I am safe to say that I have maybe a half dozen pics of a buck. Of those, they are all yearlling pics. But vastly more baldies there too.

I see the same thing, doe's and fawns only the occasional buck. Come fall I'm glad I held the ladies all summer.

For a couple of years I saw the same thing. Lots of does and fawns. No bucks. I just don't think they want to deal with the drama and those old hags. The does claim that area and the bucks say it isn't worth it. Then Halloween hits and priorities change.

Hoes always be starting shit.

I've got 2 does and 3 fawns hitting my yard plots on a regular bases, but also 11+ different bucks can be seen out there most mornings. It's not just clover though, I have sunflowers and millet planted right now too.
I don't know how they divvy up land or if different forages are preferred by bucks vs does at any given time of yr. I would speculate that producing milk and growing antlers may require different nutrients and different forages.
