Been thinking about installing or paying someone to install a hand pump on the top of my well casing at the cabin. Just would be nice to have as a backup I would need one that drains and protects itself from freezing automatically. So where do i start? Is this something I can install myself or need to hire someone to do? How much do they cost? My well is 55' deep and produces 7.5 gpm.

Don't know if it is possible but would a driven sand point work? What do you have for soil under your clay Brad?
