Pretty amazing how many you see EVERYWHERE now. Why cant ducks and pheasants take over just like the cranes.

My neighbor shoots those with a vengeance. Hates them because they go down fresh planted rows and pull up the seeds and eat them.

This past camera pull I also got my first crane pics. I wasn't sure what to make of it yet. I do know they'll scare the shit out of you if you spook each other and haven't heard the sound they make.

Sandhills get more and more numerous around here each year it seems. A young guy at the local bar tells me he's gonna shoot one and cook it up for me

I know they splatter pretty good if you hit one on a scooter. A few years ago a buddy and I were out for a ride. One come out of the ditch and he hit it with his crash bar. It looked like it had a bomb go off on its insides. Blood and guts all over both us. We got to the local watering hole and the barkeep saw us and called 911 figuring we were in an accident.
