It's been a few years since we grew them. Told the wife we'll be growing them every year from now on. They are almost as sweet as candy this year. I believe I could eat a whole one myself every day

Will it make it if I mix it into my fall plot next year, or does it need to go in the spring plot?
I've always got room for more in the spring mix. I'd like to have something for me out there too.

I believe it can be either spring or fall sown. Dad used to buy kohlrabi sets in the spring instead of planting by seed. Either way works

Really? I planted some last yr and tried it a couple of times... tasted like shit each time I tried it. Deer and other critters wouldn't eat it either. I wonder if climate had something to do with it?

I wonder if climate had something to do with it?I'd virtually guarantee it. I've had kohlrabi before that was bitter and tough, but each time we've grown it here it has been tasty. My wife usually decides what to order and plant in the garden, so that's why we didn't have any for a couple years. I'll order the seed myself for next spring How do garden beets, garden radishes, cabbage, collards, etc. taste from your area?

Kohlrabi was my favorite to eat fresh out of garden when I was growing up. It does have to be picked at the right time. Let it go to long and it gets woody, to early and it doesn't taste good either.

Radishes are hot and I burp them up for a couple of hours after eating them. Haven't grown a lot of collards or greens but the one's I have grown were bitter. We always get hot and dry in July, August, September, and half of October. That might have something to do with it.

Do deer eat them like turnips? I planted mine last yr for deer, they didn't touch them! They won't eat turnips either, just radishes.

Do deer eat them like turnips? No idea, I've never planted them in a plot. Seed ain't cheap compared to other brassicas.
