So....I was thinking about a way to get to my stand without leaving a scent trail. Thought about waterproof shoe / boot covers like you see contractors wear. Are any of these on the market for hunting?
I think I may buy a box of these to cover my boots and walk to the stand. Any other ideas for this?
(oops....cannot load this file - but it's called "Angel In Armor Boot Covers" at Amazon. Plumbers use them, etc.) Somebody oughtta offer a hunter version of these.....no?

I have seen lots of products try to do what you are talking about. Elimitrax comes to mind. The biggest issue I see with a plastic/fabric "booty" is that it's going to snag on everything and tear and the like - may even be noisy in cold temps. It's one thing when your in someones house on hardwood or carpeted floors trying not to track in dirt. Trying to get a plastic/fabric that won't pass along a scent of some sort (either from you or the material itself) that is cheap (because they will essentially need to be disposable) will be a struggle. This is going to sound bad.....as a gimmick it would sell...people will buy almost anything..... put some camo pattern on them and slap some stupid "bone hunter" logo on them and the less discerning hunters (wal-mart shoppers) will buy them. The more serious hunter however will be a tough sell in my opinion. My grandfather once told me that not all fishing lures are made to catch fish.....some are made to catch fisherman.

I've had a pair of the aforementioned "Elimitrax" overboots. They work VERY WELL! But like jbird said they are somewhat noisy. Lots of people laugh or scoff at the idea of them but they work. I've spent a lifetime hunting areas were I can see a long ways (up to half a mile usually) and can observe my entrance path. My trail always drew attention from deer and coyotes. I meticulously wore rubber boots, scent free washed clothing, and never touched anything with my hands on the way in. Animals always explored my trail... ALWAYS! My entrance hasn't been pegged a single time since I started wearing the overboots. Take it or leave it but they produce direct results for me and I'll trade some noise to help hide my disturbance to the area. My hunt locations don't burn out like they use to.

I gotta do a bit of research not this Elimitrax. OTOH.....I kinda like the disposable type of bootie. Gotta believe somebody makes a cross-linked poly bootie that will hold up on a 1/4 mile walk to the deer stand.

Sounds like somebody needs to start a new business.....Foggy I'm too old and don't really want to work anymore. But I can see this being a good biz for the right company. If I was still making stuff I would consider sourcing a product like this. Who needs to sell this is somebody like Hunters Specialties. They make lots of gadget products and are very good at this kinda deal. I am currently working with a large company on a new bipod / monopod / tripod design for crossbows and for guns. I have a really neat concept for a novel product....and it would get a patent, yada yada. I just don't want to go into biz anymore. Not sure if these guys are the right folks for this or not.....but I do have a neat idea. Kinda holding out for a patent royalty. FORE!

I'm making the leap this year and "jamming up". Sugar cookies. Make sure you have a place for your boots and clothes after the hunt. And going into town....well...expect a few looks! hahahah

^^Tried to find more data on the elimitrax above. No dice. Seems they are gone. Strange. I suppose the price of $99 is just a LITTLE bit overpriced for this tech....no? Thats why I like the box of 30 pair for $20. Affordable, disposable. My kinda deal.
