They need a math formula to tell them that?
They cant take a map, put a tack on the map where a case was found. Over time, see where its most prevelant, and decide that the area around it is likely to be in for some trouble.

Interpolating data. Two data points are used to predict a 3rd data point between the first two points..reliable and accurate.
Extrapolating data. Predicting with 2 data points a third point outside of the first two..risky false outcomes potentially await
Try and guess what this model is using, Interpolation or Extrapolation. Great scientists would be very leary. This is just another smokescreen to justify to the sheep, that is the public, that killing more deer is the solution. Thank the lord for steel posts and 8' woven wire

Todays Star Trib has an article about the deer farm in Se. Mn. The area has a deer farm that all deer escaped, none recovered. The DNR wants it closed down, but the Board of Health sees nothing wrong. Poor record keeping along with other problems are evident. Protect the deer in the rest of the state. Would checking the CWD infected deer to see if they the similar genes be able to prove where they came from?

Would checking the CWD infected deer to see if they the similar genes be able to prove where they came from? I was told no. Cornicelli likes to bullshit the public and the press that he can tell but its another DNR PR tactic from what I was told.
