Just wanted to share a fail with you guys for my screen this year. Two years ago, I planted this same spot with a mix of Egyptain Wheat, some cheap Grain Sorghum from a buddy that got it from NWTF and some beans. It came in just awesome. All I did was worked the ground with a drag, broadcast and re-drag along with several shots of N throughout the year. Weeds were never an issue because it was so thick. (Tried to find a photo but they are locked away on PB) This year: hey, let's try rows of EW, that would look cool/work slick.....wrong. Way too much open ground and the grasses have taken over. 1/2 the growth of what I had previously, pretty bummed about it!

So your thinking the different was the the rows had open ground vs. the broadcast which allowed for a complete canopy?

Them are the things you only have to learn once.

Yep, that's what I'm thinking Lee.
That might not be the only reason though......I sprayed and no-tilled this in. Two years ago, I sprayed and worked the ground just a bit. Could be a factor too?
