They look great, you've got some nice looking bulbs. Have you seen much for browsing or not until after a frost?
I think its been a bumper crop year for pig weed. It has to be all the rain. I had a very clean plot of soybeans but pigweed showed up late. It has to be the rain.

You're gonna have turnips bigger than cantaloupes by fall. The pigweed here is unbelievably thick this year. I had to nuke portions of my kale/GGT plot about 10 days ago because those areas were nearly 100% pigweed. I just couldn't let that shit go to seed.

Oh man! Nice bulbs! Might need to convert that to a clover plot and mow aggressively for a few years.

Could you go in and weed whip right above the brassica in order to kill at least some of the plant/seeds?

Awesome bulbs Lee.
How much fertilizer did you add at planting? Any follow up with urea?

I think they were planted around july 4th, I didn't add any fertilizer as I have had beans in there the last few years as well as rye that we tilled under this spring, I would love to add some urea to it, however me and the rain just cant get our schedules to coincide.

If we could call pigweed a forb, my foodplots would be a success.
Rain and weather made spraying hard to get done at the right time. Part of a field germinated and the rest sat there for weeks. The crop and the weeds did not germinate uniformlly across the fields. this was especially true when you have different types of soil on a small foodplot.

Can 2-4D handle pigweed? I wonder if a guy couldn't do an oat cover crop in spring, spray 2-4d a few weeks before you want to plant brassicas, then spread all your seed and fertilizer in and mow it down?
