Anybody ever pull their Stihl chainsaw totally apart? I bought an 025 off of Facebook for 50 bucks that leaked gas. I thought, shit it can't be that hard to fix?! Went on eBay and bought a whole new part for it, and that required taking every single piece apart! The damn thing is in pieces on my workbench and it will require quite a few beers and cuss words to get it to go back together. It ran before I took it apart, I will be shocked if it does when I get it back together! 😅

If you get it back together and have extra parts and it still runs you've done good.

Take pictures as you take it apart. Be careful running the screws back into the plastic. Make sure they are started straight and don't over tighten. They are easy to strip. Looking through the exhaust port it looks like the piston is in good shape. Shouldn't be any "scratches" on the piston or cylinder walls. If any of the fuel or primer lines are stiff and inflexible I would replace them now. Check the fuel pick up line inside the tank too. There is probably a filter on the end of it.

Wow....some of this stuff is way beyond my ability anymore. Good luck!
Most times when I get into these kinda projects.....I find I don't understand the fasteners used....or never seen em before. So many assembly methods and fastener variations make this stuff difficult.

Lol, I just haven't had time to attack it. Working on it right now, we shall see how it goes! Probably should be out hanging my last stand...

Well, about two hours later and it's all together.....but it won't run. It fires up, runs for a second or two and than kills like it isn't getting gas. Any tricks? I remember reading somewhere that the vents are an issue on these? Idk
