I think it's time for a pole saw. I've got a handful of spots I can already see I need one. I've got one tree I'm going to try to get a stand in that will need some trimming at face height about 8 feet away. I think it'd also come in handy for that big apple tree at my brother's place. But holy shit, they want a mint for the pole attached to a silky. Anyone got a good recommendation? I'm eyeballing a 6-9', but wondering if I should spend the extra money and get a longer one or what I should do.

Pretty sure I've got the Silky Zubat 272-18. Think I paid about $160 on amazon.

I can't remember the brand, but the one Bill uses on Midwest Whitetail looks light and handy. I've used the gas stihl saws and they are kick ass, but spendy.

Fiskars is good stuff, I have a couple of their tools and they are good quality.

That's more like it. I'll have to get in to my HD and check this out.

I bought one of tese last week. Worked fine. It's replacing a 20 year old fiskar saw that the bear broke the blade connector off this spring. Couldn't get a replacement head any more. Shouldn't have left the saw in my orchard but, was having to hike in 3/4 mie pulling my jet sled with other gear. Had it leaned up against a tree and he found it and snapped it.

I used that Fiskar saw a lot this weekend. The blade is thinner than my old blade and bends easier. The looper works awesome though very quick clean cuts.

I lucked out this weekend, and it wasn't as bad as I thought once I got up there. A little leaning off the platform clinging to one dead branch and I got what I needed gone.
