July 23rd. That photo is from over a week ago, can't really remember when. Here is a full plot shot from Saturday.

Looks good! Local seed guy tells me still small chance brassicas could be planted yet this year, but he might just want to sell seed. I'm either doing rye, wheat, or these brassicas

Not me. Some BOB blends have them. Can't say I've ever had brassicas make it to 10F weather. The brassicas I've ever planted have been scalped to the dirt by 10/25, even when it's still 80F. Keep in mind, I could pound rebar into the ground and it'll be completely browsed off by Halloween.

Kaleb, At this late point, I'd save your money and get the winter rye down. It'll last longer than the Brassicas and keep growing longer and be there for green up next spring. It has allopathic abilities to prevent other weed seeds from germinating in the soil. Clover will germinate with it. The deer will love it. These guys have been chewing down daily on this new plot.

Alright you guys win. Winter rye will go down this weekend if the forecast shows rain Rye is cheap. Spread 1 bushel/acre if you see rain coming, 2 if you don't.
