Yesterday I tilled the garden. Got out some WR seed, broadcast it and raked it in. Neighbors must have thought I was nuts planting something this time of the year. It maybe a little late for it but figured I'd give it a try. Come near spring do a little frost seeding then till it all in once its time for the garden to go in.

I saw some fields this morning the farmers had disced up ready to planted winter rye.
Do deer come into your yard at home?

I've been thinking of doing the same thing.
Deer do come into my yard. This year they were hell on my tomato plants. I wouldn't mind if they came to eat rye but I don't want to train them into thinking my garden should be a regular stop for them.

That’s half the fun of neighbors, making them wonder if you’re bonkers.

The amount of dead animals I have processed in my garage is enough to scare many of my neighbors.

A few years ago I set a cam out one night when we had the grand kids for the weekend. They dont bother the garden so much but love the wife's hasta's. The house in the background is the neighbors. set the bait someones coming yum off to the hastas

We have several hundred now that overtook my side lawn so I dug up around 50 and planted them for an old timer. He gave me a cord of two year old dried oak fire wood for free so I paid him back with hostas. He's also got huge oaks and his lawn and driveway were covered in acorns. I'm not sure if these hostas will stand a chance next year but, at least they're out of my yard.

The wife has at least a dozen different kinds of hostas. With maybe a dozen of each variety. Deer love some and leave others alone. Some of the one they leave alone she planted on the property near the gate and camper.
