And NH Red Deer Crab and Colorado Orange. I tasted that red deer crab this past weekend. Very firm even after some frosts. Good tasting. ...and Bullock, Hayford Sweet, Washington Sweet, and Spice Sweet from Fedco....and maybe Frostbite and Art's Berry crab from Art. The sickness is real Still not sure if I should put in a GRIN order or not. I want to graft some of the Berry crab and also the one dolgo seedling. I want them closer to the house for cider. Also frostbite if it is not still patented. Carl I need to see if that red crab from you took. The Bastiens Orange Flesh started to grow this summer. It has a more rounder leaf.

I like to eat this dolgo seedling and think it will be great in cider. Everybody else who tries it calls it sour! Yup, you have seen this picture before.

Right now, I'm thinking that 2018 may be my last GRIN order. Maybe I'll order again if some of what I have/get doesn't take, but other than that I think I'll have what I want/need. Either that or I'll convert another foodplot or two into orchards and go totally balls to the wall on more fruit trees

I'm pretty sure this is my last order. I've said that before though. If I get enough cleared this winter then I should be able to plant most of the trees I have over wintering at home. If not they'll go to good homes. My fastest way to more late hanging deer apples is to top work those older trees. One tree on the lawn dumped 3-4 bushel of yellow apples from this last storm. I wish that tree was in my hunting orchard. If you look beyond the oak on the left you can see some of the yellow apples on the ground. upload gif image

I also decided to make the garden smaller next year. It is hard to do, but so much of it we do not get eaten.

I had to talk my wife into starting with a much smaller garden than she used to have. This small one out produces her old one...probably because it's much better soil. Once all of my existing fruit trees get close to maturity, I'll have more than enough to prune, spray, pick, etc. Some day all those trees will probably get cut down or become neglected anyway.
