What does everyone have ordered for this year? I just don't have the time to sit and look through all of the apples that they have. I have a small list that I plan on ordering, plus maybe some to teach grafting to my class. Any on there that I should try? Just wanted to look at your list and maybe check and see if they would work in my situation. I missed out on it last year and don't want to again!

But easy to change my mind. Most of what I have left to do is top work some wild and flowering crabs. Trail sounds interesting but I have Trailman all ready. sugar crab did not take and neither did most of the Nevis crab crosses. If I were smart I would just topwork with Kerr, with a dolgo seedling, and with another seedling.

I am getting old. Just took a walk around the yard and noticed some grocery bag strips tied in a red splendor. I forgot all about these grafts.

I'm anxious to taste fruit off of my Wakapala...do you know if yours survived Art?

Art,
Looks like your grafts took and grew well. As I sat in my orchard today most of the apples had fallen. I will be top working several of those trees to multiple varieties.
At the camp the red deer crab had dropped several bushel of apples but still has several bushels hanging.

^^^^. I'm going to be top working a lot of trees next spring to create frankentrees that produce early, mid, and late.

I've got to decide which varieties are going to get a "whole tree" of their own first. In my main orchard only 4 of the 25 older trees still had apples on them as of yesterday. I need to up that number. Those red deer crabs will be grafted to most of them if I can get to the scions up high. That tree is still loaded but, on the lawn at camp.

What's kind of crazy (e.g. stupid) on my part is that I've got one wild crab here that produces loads of slightly larger than quarter size fruit every year...and it holds some fruit until spring...and I haven't grafted any of that tree elsewhere...or ever tasted fruit from the darn tree
I guess it's a "grass is always greener" kinda deal
