Anyone ever see something like this on a deer before? I'm assuming it is some sort of cyst or tumor. Looks pretty awful

I have had a deer with it. I have seen many trail cam pics over the years with it on other forums. I think I recall that its a fluid sack build up? Its been a while since I have seen it talked about. Fling an arrow through it to drain it. Nature is cruel.

We shot a doe last year like that, not quite as big of a fluid sack. Reviewing some of the game camera pictures we had it on camera as well.
When we gutted about a gallon of fluid came gushing out.
After talking to the butcher that make our sausages and snack sticks we chucked the whole doe for the coyotes to eat.

My son asked me if we could do the same thing. Haha

Worst that can happen, he misses his target and hits it lethal and takes it out of its misery.

Had a doe that looked like that a number of years ago. A wildlife biologist from Michigan said that it was probably from a stick or something getting pushed under skin. A deer can die from the infection. I did get a picture of the doe later in year and the abscess had broken open. Don't know if she made it but he did say that if it broke open and drained she had a better chance of surviving.

I had a deer on our place with a growth like that on his side. It wasn't there, then a couple of months later it was there, then the following yr it was gone. No signs of having an ill effect at all.
