In my opinion alfalfa is awesome until it goes dominant or has a ton of snow on it. Our deer in late season greatly prefer corn and beans over alfalfa. Summer months you find them in both. Alfalfa has other good quality for soil health too.

My hottest cam has been on alfalfa the past few weeks. Crap load of anterless every night. Bucks starting showing up the morning of the 17th and started to go daylight on the 23rd. The timing of this cold front is incredible if you have time to get in the tree.

Does the size of the alfalfa field have something to do with the draw? I have only 1/4 acre and I do see browse during the year but after the frost hits it the deer move to Corn and soybeans. Also, what is there to eat on an alfalfa field that gets hit with frost most nights this time of year?

Scrapes and good camera activity on both. Although I will say, we have had more action on the clover, but also clover is closer to the bedding area.

It's the heavy killing frost that does it in. The field by me is 25 acres. It's next to 55 acres of corn and another 80 acres of beans. My brassica plots have rec'd little attention! This is a timelapse vid showing typical evening movement.
