One of my first plots was chicory. I won a bag of seed in a raffle. It was an awesome plot but really thinned in year two and three.

Most food plotters are to cheap to spend the $6/lb for Chicory when clover is $2...... I spend $25-$30 every year for a lb. of Russel lupine seed to keep the wife happy. Hancock had 5 lb. bags of chicory on sale for $38 delivered to my door. Merry Christmas to me

Most food plotters are to cheap to spend the $6/lb for Chicory when clover is $2...... That's crazy considering there are about 400,000 seeds per pound. I finally ran out of chicory this fall, so I need to get some more in. Should probably give the older clover a shot in the spring again.

For me, I blend in chicory, with all my clover mixes. Deer and pigs here like chicory

I’ll admit that I don’t add enough lime but, it’s due to time more than being cheap.

I’ll admit that I don’t add enough lime but, it’s due to time more than being cheap. I'd make a concerted effort to add a whole bunch of lime and some gypsum to your plots this year. Get your plots sweetened up so if you get timely rain the plots will be lush. I think lush food for as long as possible in that never ending sea of timber would be huge in directing/controlling deer movement.

I’ll admit that I don’t add enough lime but, it’s due to time more than being cheap. I hate the lime chore. That’s why I don’t use fertilizer anymore. I’ll put it on to get to 5.9 or 6.0 for a pH. If I got that, I don’t worry about any more unless I’ve got a weed issue like horsetail or fern. You start losing micronutrient uptake as u go north of 6.2 pH. I think a lot of the problem from there is misdiagnosed as ph problems or nitrogen problems. I really think they’re actually sulfate shortages, or complications from mono speciation, tillage, and chem. Fuckin’ Biden.
